Richard Clark, our managing editor and I have traveled across our great nation to give you daily updates on the latest from the Game Developer’s Conference. This is Game Church’s first foray into GDC. We’re excited, because in many ways we believe that GDC is the most important conference of them all. It’s the conference where the people who make the games we love to play take center stage. It’s meant to be less shamelessly commercial and more focused on the art and impact of games.
Truthfully, Richard and I will certainly be experiencing our fair share of the shamelessly commercial and mainstream stuff. Still, you can go to any major game website to hear the biggest announcements that happen at GDC, so for the next week, we’re going to strive to give you a unique perspective on GDC that deals primarily with the moral, spiritual and philosophical side of games. We have some incredible things planned already and we can’t wait to flesh them out and share them with you.
We hope that our experience at GDC will be an interesting barometer for the industry and maybe even open your eyes to the spiritual side of a medium that you hadn’t seen before. Over the next week (and this may very well flow into the weekend or next week), you can expect daily updates from both Richard and myself about the games we play, the ideas behind them, and the people behind it all.
