I would advice you to NOT witness to anybody unless you know they want to hear. You will only irritate people seeing as many people have their own very strong faiths. Would you want them "witnessing" to you about Islam, Wicca or anything else? I doubt you would. You would probably even say they were wrong for it.

Beautiful. I personally have thought about what age would be appropriate to introduce my kids to games like Halo and Skyrim, because they are so beautiful, yet so violent. I was introduced to Halo without parental consent at the age of 12, and although I don't see any negative outcomes of that, I was technically breaking my parents rules for me when I played it at a friends house. I want to set loser rules when it comes to video games for my kids, because it will encourage them to explore and to interact at their own pace. At the same time, I don't want my 7 year old playing "classics" like Gears of War somewhere down the line. I don't see any way that could end well. I was already so naturally violent at the age of 7 anyways...

Nice piece and interesting statistics. Gotta say, I don't think I have to die very hard to set aside time to play games with my children! Now it's just a matter of acquiring some kids...

The R18+ rating has been out for a few months now (I'm in Sydney). Just finished God of War: Ascension, which has the new rating. Check it out:

The Destructoid article you linked is an year-old. So actually, the law passed and we have our rating already. Just wanted to point that out.

Right! I had the same bleak reaction to the squirrels. I thought, "these squirrels are a trick, a developer's trick." But then I realized that creation isn't a trick, it's a blessing. A gift.

It's really a double-edged sword. Depending on the day, fiction either connects with me INTENSELY or, on the days when I can't suspend my disbelief, I just find it trite and unimportant.
